Interactive Fiction (IF)

Play IF online using your browser!

Welcome!

At this site you can play interactive fiction (IF) games online, using your web browser, for free. No advertisements, pop-ups, or other such nonsense.

I will be adding games as I get the chance. Please keep in mind that SAVE and RESTORE functions may not function properly due to java and server restrictions. In addition, the java applet may not reload (restart, if you have to) easily - you may have to leave the game page, exit out of your browser, and then return to the game page to start a new game.

The focus of this repository is on games in Inform format. At this time, graphical games are not supported, though they may be in the future. Graphical IF games become dated quickly...

Happy gaming!

Information and System Requirements

Online play is possible using ZPlet, which is Z-machine compatible, i.e., the format for Inform interactive fiction games. Java is required to be present and enabled on your computer. Games are interpreted through a java applet. It should work on most browsers.

For The New Player

Here is an excellent how-to guide for the player new to IF. In addition, you could start out with Nine Points, A Demonstration of an Interactive Fiction Game, by Robert Janelle and Brad O'Donnell. I highly recommend this game to learn how to play interactive fiction games!
